Successful uses of Alchemy result in single-use potions, ranging from simple healing potions to tough elixirs with permanent effects. Tailoring gives head, leg, hand, feet, and body armor, along with shields. Blacksmithing gives Melee Weapons, Bows, and Magic Weapons. Weapons (barring the highest tier ones) and armors will never be enchanted but socketed, allowing you to add Gems to customize your items.

Success and failure[]

The success chance depends on your skill levels and the difficulty of the recipe. Your Alchemy/Tailoring/Blacksmithing skills influence their specific crafts, while the Artistry skill influences general crafting. Each time you succeed to make an item, the corresponding crafting skill goes up. Each time you fail to create an item, there is a chance that your Artistry increases. On failure, your Scavenging skill may be raised, and you may get some components of the failed recipe back, depending on your Scavenging level.

Hint and Tricks[]

Use the easiest recipes with the cheapest ingredients (and the highest chance) to train your Alchemy/Tailoring/Blacksmithing skills before starting to create really good items. Best recipes for this are: Alchemy - "Minor Healing Potion" requiring 3 "Holy Water" + 1 "Shell", Tailoring - "Empty Pointy Hat" requiring 4 "Paper" + 3 "Leather" + 1 "Energy Stone(s)", Blacksmithing - "Useful Shortsword" requiring 4 "Lump of Coal" + 2 "Bar of Iron" + 1 "Leather" + 1 "Ice Shard(s)". All of these can be purchased in the shops, and after you craft all you have the total ingredients for and run out, you can sell your junk crafts and buy more ingredients. Unfortunately, there is no "hold SHIFT button" function for crafting recipes, so when raising these 3 skills, you'll have to grind through the monotonous cycle of clicking "Recipes" > "Alchemy/Tailoring/Blacksmithing" > item to craft > "Combine".

NOTE: For any training of these skills, it would be helpful to make gear with as much "Learning" as possible socketed to them (max 158 with 1,000 Mysticism), then switch them in place of your usual gear while doing this kind of thing.

Train up your Artistry and Scavenging by "experimenting", using only one common resource in the matrix. The crafting will fail, but the skills go up quickly at minimal cost. Select an ingredient and hold SHIFT while clicking once a bottom cell of the matrix, then click "Combine". Since the bottom cells are so close to the combine button, you can quickly alternate between clicking a bottom cell and "Combine", keeping SHIFT held the whole time. Doing this should give constant messages of skills being raised (by less and less of a number the higher you train them).

Gain ingredients from repeatedly looting the crafting dungeons. If you do not pick up the recipe chest on level 2, you can re-enter and re-loot the same dungeon. If you pick up the chest with the last missing recipes, the crafting dungeons disappear. Another, possibly faster method is to go through and loot them of crafting ingredients, but pick up as much treasure from chests and enemies along the way (with the biggest backpacks you can keep buying), then sell them and buy crafting ingredients from the shop.

Every time you clear a crafting dungeon, 3 things will "unlock" on the 3 x 10 board of things to craft. In this way, there are 10 of each type of crafting dungeon to clear to unlock the entirety of their corresponding boards. These will repeat and increase in difficulty as long as there are undiscovered recipes of that category. Here is how the difficulty level is laid out for these 3 dungeons:

1st / 2nd / 3rd clearings = 1-skull -- 4th / 5th clearings = 2-skull -- 6th / 7th clearings = 3-skull -- 8th / 9th clearings = 4-skull -- 10th clearing = 5-skull.

As stated above, if all recipes for a category are unlocked before that category dungeon reaches a certain height of difficulty, it will still permanently disappear without the higher difficulties appearing. Since 3 things unlock per clear, if you get say, 4 things unlocked on the alchemy board by just crafting, you will never see the "final" difficulty level, since everything will then be unlocked. Likewise, if you craft and unlock 15 recipes, that type of dungeon will permanently disappear after 5 clearings.

In addition, use disenchanters to decompose the junk (spare items) you find when exploring, to get resources and gems, as well as Enchanting and Mysticism skills up. Socket weak or useless gems into low crafted or bought items to train Enchanting.
